ASA/ABS board is a co extruded composite board made of ABS substrate and ASA surface, with the core of ABS toughness and ASA weather resistance, balancing performance and cost, and focusing on long-term outdoor use scenarios.

1、 Core performance (ASA/ABS composite board)

• Structure: Bottom layer ABS (strong, impact resistant, and dimensionally stable); Surface ASA (weather resistant, UV resistant, not prone to yellowing).

• Weather resistance: the outdoor weather resistance is about 10 times that of pure ABS. It is UV resistant, anti-aging, non powdering, and not easy to fade. It can be used outdoors for 5 – 10 years.

• Mechanical properties: High impact strength (about 20 kJ/m ² at room temperature, maintaining 4 kJ/m ² at -30 ℃); Good rigidity, excellent toughness, stable size, and low temperature resistance.

• Heat resistance and processing: The hot deformation temperature is about 90-100 ℃; Easy to form, bend, carve, and bond; The surface can be high gloss/matte/frosted/patterned.

• Chemistry and safety: resistant to dilute acids, alkalis, salts, oils, and alcohols; Flame retardant customizable (UL94 HB grade); Environmentally friendly and non-toxic.

• Density: about 1.1 g/cm ³, lighter than metal, with lower transportation and installation costs.

2、 Key differences between ASA and ABS

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene): Its advantages include good toughness, impact resistance, affordability, and ease of processing; The disadvantage is that it is not UV resistant and is prone to aging, yellowing, and brittleness outdoors; Suitable for interior parts, toys, home appliance shells, and car interiors.

ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylic): Its advantages include strong weather resistance, UV resistance, stable color, and outdoor durability; The disadvantage is that the price is higher and the toughness is slightly lower than ABS; Suitable for car exterior decoration, outdoor furniture, signage, photovoltaic/outdoor equipment.

• Automotive/Transportation: Electric vehicle/golf cart exterior, bus exterior, rearview mirror housing, bumper, side skirts, air conditioning hood, RV components.

Architecture/Outdoor: External wall cladding, balcony railings, outdoor signs, light boxes, sun visors, photovoltaic backboards, courtyard facilities.

• Home appliances/electronics: outdoor cabinets, communication base station enclosures, monitoring equipment covers, water heater water tanks, air conditioning outdoor enclosures.

4、 Selection suggestions

Long term outdoor exposure to sunlight and rain: Choose ASA/ABS composite board (with the highest cost-effectiveness) or pure ASA board.
